... to Stef Dillen’s Märklin Sprint website. It is a non-commercial website which only intention is to add a few pages to the rich history of slotcar racing in the sixties and seventies,... in particular that of the great German Märklin. In 1974, at age eight, I received a Märklin Sprint-racetrack as Santa-Claus present . It was a starter-set 1409 with 2 Mc Namara Fords, a yellow BP and a white Esso version, ... This set is still in my possession end even after many thousands of laps on the track, it is still in perfect working condition. This immediately says a lot about Märklin Sprint's quality and reliability. During the seventies, I continued to buy track-pieces and parts until Märklin Sprint ceased to exist in 1982.
Out of a general interest in vintage memorabilia, sixties-seventies racing and a bit out of nostalgia for the childhood-toys, I started 2 decades later to collect Märklin Sprint. Driven by fellow collectors like Anthony Huvaere and aided by the internet (Ebay, etc. ..), my collection has become quite extensive and since a few years I managed to collect all models of race-cars that Märklin has released between 1967 and 1982.
What you can expect further on this site is a glimpse of my collection and some side-information that you might not immediately find on other Märklin Sprint sites. The website is still under construction so here and there you might find some missing information or pages without English translation.
If you have Märklin Sprint goodies in the attic or basement and you want to bring them back to live, do contact me for more info or advice. If you want to get rid of them, also let me know, there might always be items to complete my collection.
Thanks for your visit,....
Welcome,...
